Cairns only Outback in a Day Tour! Explore the Chillagoe Caves, Granite Gorge and other highlights of Tropical North Queensland on this full-day tour from Cairns.

Departing: Tuesdays and Fridays
Departs from: approximately 6.30am from Cairns (transfers complimentary), Northern Beaches from 6.45am ($29pp) and Port Douglas from 5.50am ($99pp min. 2 passengers).
Returns: approximately 6pm

Your day starts by being met by your local eco-accredited guide for the day. Once all your group have been picked up it's off to the Outback, spotting wildlife along the way!

Skybury Coffee Plantation:
First stop is the picturesque Skybury Coffee Plantation for morning tea. The perfect mid-morning pick-me-up! Sit back and relax with your group as you sip on local coffee and tea and enjoy a delicious sweet treat. Explore the gift shop and historical coffee machinery and take in the breathtaking views.

Chillagoe Caves:
Now that you are caffeinated and happy, we head to the Chillagoe-Mungana Caves National Park where you will be met by a local guide for your Chillagoe Caves tour. Take a step back in time and be inspired by the knowledge of your guide as you learn all about these fossilized remains of the ancient coral reefs some 400 - 420 million years old! 

Chillagoe Smelter Ruins:
Here we delve into the history of the historic Chillagoe Copper Smelters.

Balancing Rock:
Go on a walk through the rock formations to Balancing Rock for an iconic photo opportunity. Balancing Rock is a spectacular limestone outcrop.

Aboriginal Rock Art: 
See Aboriginal Rock Art with your guide.

Get your Aussie on at a classic Aussie Pub for lunch in the heart of Chillagoe. Enjoy a main meal and cool down with a refreshing drink. Mingle with the locals!

Granite Gorge: 
Explore Granite Gorge Nature Park and get up close to wallabies and see them in their natural habitat.

Pick-up and Return Times:

  • Cairns City accommodation complimentary: pick up between 6.45am – 7am, return 6.30pm - 7pm
  • Southside accommodation complimentary: pick up 6.40am, return 6.30pm - 7pm
  • Northern Beaches accommodation $29 per person: International Coaches will pick you up approximately 6.45am and transfer you to Canopys Edge Bus Stop in Smithfield where you will be picked up by your Billy Tea guide. This is included in your ticket. You will be returned to Canopys Edge Bus Stop in Smithfield approximately 6.30pm where you will be picked up by International Coaches for your return back to the Northern Beaches.
  • Port Douglas accommodation: this is an additional cost of $99 per person (minimum of 2 people). International Coaches will pick you up between 6am - 6.15am and transfer you to the bottom of the Kuranda range where you will be picked up by your Billy Tea guide. Returns between 7pm - 7.30pm.

What to wear:

As we are in a tropical environment, wear comfortable clothes and flat closed in shoes - no thongs (flip flops) and no high heels! If you do not have closed in shoes you may not be allowed in the Caves due to safety reasons and the decision of National Parks. In winter you will need to take a light coat.
